about

I made this album in 5 days in 2002.

I was living on a small acreage in Bellevue, NE, which is just outside the Omaha city limits. I decided to come home from work each day for a week (Monday through Friday), write a song outside on the deck, and then go to my bedroom in the basement and record it. "Answering Machine" was recorded on one of the days and was my actual answering machine greeting, included here as mildly humorous.

I used a Yamaha QY-20 sequencer for the drums and many of the synth sounds, a Casio CZ-1000 for other synth sounds, a Fender Stratocaster, and probably some cheapy microphones. I didn't want my roommates to hear me recording, so the vocals are sort of... hushed. Something that I have generally continued to do with all vocal recordings since then.

(Originally released in 2002 as the band "Roarbot")
